Reform and opening up are new undertakings, so we have no precedent to go by; all we can do is to proceed in the light of the specific conditions in our country. Our experience indicates that is should be beneficial to go a little faster.

We should go a step further to integrate science and technology with economic development. By this I mean that having established the principle of integrating them and come to a correct understanding of the importance of doing so, we should now tackle the system for managing science and technology.
例8：就我們國內來說， 什么是中國最大的政治？ 四個現(xiàn)代化就是中國最大的政治。
What is the most significant political task for China? It is the achievement of the four modernization.
How are we go about achieving these goals? We must observe the laws governing socio-economic development and follow an open policy both internationally and domestically.
這幾個例子主要說明動詞和主語或者賓語搭配的問題。例10里的“管”字很不好譯，譯文若仍以 the basic line 做主語，很難找到合適的動詞搭配。改用we做主語，問題就很好的解決了。例11“經(jīng)驗”后面接“告訴”，但在英語里experience可以teach，可以show，可以demonstrate，可以indicate，若讓它tell，就顯得勉強了一點。例12原文是“尊重。。。。規(guī)律”，譯文與其說respect，就不如說observe了。
As China is a socialist country, a trillion dollar as GDP will mean a higher living standard of its people. More important, it will allow us to approach the standard of developed countries in another 30 to 50 years.
The foundamental task for socialist stage is to develop productivity forces.
